Barbara, I have read this book aloud to my students and received a fantastic reaction for me to "Keep reading, don't stop." They absolutely love the humor and could relate easily to the sibling rivalry. The characters are so vividly brought to life through their drawl of southern dialogue. I had fun reading it aloud. Along with it's humor, the book does highlight the issue of racism during the 1600's which sparks an interesting discussion group with 10 - 11 year olds. Overall, a truely good book!
